Corporate relocation · Omaha
Relocating to Omaha for Kiewit.
North Downtown
Kiewit moved to North Downtown in 2022, which changed the calculus for anyone relocating in. The riverfront and Old Market are now genuinely walkable from the office, while the traditional west-side family neighborhoods remain a straightforward commute.
Where people live
North Downtown reaches the riverfront in minutes and West Omaha in about twenty.
- Old Market & the Capitol District
- Cobblestone, brick warehouse conversions and restaurants. For people who want to walk to work and are done with lawns.
- Blackstone
- The most improved district in Omaha in a decade. Close in, walkable, and still buying at a discount to Dundee.
- Dundee & Benson
- Character housing with a short commute, and the two neighborhoods people name when they say Omaha surprised them.
- Elkhorn & West Omaha
- Where the family relocations settle. Newer construction, larger lots, and the school districts that get asked about first.
How a relocation actually goes
- 01
Before you accept
A call, and if it helps, a tour. Bill has driven corporate and medical candidates around this city for forty years — often before they had taken the job. Knowing what your package actually buys changes the negotiation.
- 02
One trip, properly used
Neighborhoods, schools and the commute driven at the hour you will actually drive it. Most relocations get one visit; it should not be spent guessing.
- 03
Buying from out of state
Video walkthroughs, a representative in the room, and someone who will tell you when a house is wrong for you. Bill reads construction — he estimated materials before he sold houses.
- 04
Selling where you are now
We coordinate with your agent at the other end so the two closings do not fight each other. That is most of what goes wrong in a relocation.
Bill holds the Certified Relocation Professional designation and has worked with corporate recruiters bringing candidates to Omaha for four decades. If you are a recruiter rather than the candidate, send them this page — or call and he will take the tour himself.
