Corporate relocation · Omaha
Relocating to Omaha for Berkshire Hathaway.
Blackstone Plaza, midtown
Berkshire runs a famously small headquarters, so people arriving for it are usually senior, usually moving a household, and usually weighing Omaha against somewhere considerably more expensive. The pleasant surprise is what the same money buys here.
Where people live
Midtown puts you inside a ten-minute drive of the most established streets in the city.
- Happy Hollow & Fairacres
- The old-money streets. Large lots, mature canopy, architecturally serious houses, and a short drive to Blackstone.
- Dundee
- Walkable, characterful, a genuine main street at 50th & Underwood. Where people land when they want a neighborhood rather than a subdivision.
- Memorial Park & Elmwood Park
- Between the medical center and midtown, backing onto the two best parks in the city.
- Field Club
- Craftsman and Tudor stock around the golf course, close in, and still underpriced relative to its quality.
How a relocation actually goes
- 01
Before you accept
A call, and if it helps, a tour. Bill has driven corporate and medical candidates around this city for forty years — often before they had taken the job. Knowing what your package actually buys changes the negotiation.
- 02
One trip, properly used
Neighborhoods, schools and the commute driven at the hour you will actually drive it. Most relocations get one visit; it should not be spent guessing.
- 03
Buying from out of state
Video walkthroughs, a representative in the room, and someone who will tell you when a house is wrong for you. Bill reads construction — he estimated materials before he sold houses.
- 04
Selling where you are now
We coordinate with your agent at the other end so the two closings do not fight each other. That is most of what goes wrong in a relocation.
Bill holds the Certified Relocation Professional designation and has worked with corporate recruiters bringing candidates to Omaha for four decades. If you are a recruiter rather than the candidate, send them this page — or call and he will take the tour himself.
